What Is Local Food?

SweetSong Groves is part of the local food movement in Southwest Florida. There have been many debates about the meaning of “local”, but rather than a matter of distance, we consider local food to be a food with an identity. That is, can you find out the history of your food before it arrived at your table? Can you be sure that it is clean, safe, and produced with respect for our environment and all of its inhabitants?

We make everything about the fruit we sell transparent to the consumer. You can learn about our growing practices, including all fertilizers and other substances we use, and even about our individual fruit trees at our website. You can visit our groves during our monthly public tours during cool season. We sell all of our fruit either ourselves or directly to trusted retailers, to ensure that it will be fresh and properly handled. Most of all, if you see the SweetSong logo, you know that your fruit was grown ecologically, using no toxic anything.
