Lemons

With so many uses in the kitchen, the lemon is an all-time favorite.

With so many pests and diseases spawned by the monocultures on industrial agriculture, citrus fruits are tough to grow ecologically. Still, we manage a lot of lemons and a few limes for the market. Be sure to use the lime zest if you can— you won’t find many others grown with no toxic anything.

SweetSong Groves has two lemon trees, mature specimens that came with our property.

SW-A-3 Lemon (Bearss)

SW-A-3 is a big, productive tree with excellent fruit, very likely a Bearss. NW-J-2 is a smaller, less productive tree of unknown variety, with smaller, very good fruit. Watch for fruit from both during the long lemon season, from November to February.
