The striking Parrish Red avocado ripens to a deep red color. It is an ultra-rare local variety propagated from a tree in Parrish, Florida by our friend Wayne Clifton. Like other varieties with a lot of West Indian component, the oil content is not comparable to a Hass or other Mexican variety, but it has a good flavor and texture and will definitely be a market favorite one the tree reaches full production.
The tree is a vigorous grower, Planted as a 3-gallon tree in March, 2016, it’s already producing and ready for size-control pruning after harvest of this year’s half dozen fruit. An interesting variety that will be fun to watch in coming years.
