Lychees, with their short season and unique flavor, are a five-star fruit. But until they have a few decades under their belts, they can be temperamental fruiters. For some reason, the only one of our several varieties to fruit in 2019 was the Kwai Mai Pink.
This rather rare variety, also known as Bosworth 3, has an excellent flavor and a very small seed. As the name suggests, it can be fully ripe well before it’s fully red. Our tree, planted in late 2015, weathered Hurricane Irma well, and we hope for continued production in coming seasons.
