Today we harvested most of the fruit from our smaller red navel orange tree NW-F-4. They will be at Jessica’s Organic Farm Stand this weekend.
The red navel, or Cara Cara orange, was a natural mutation discovered in 1976 in Valencia, Venezuela. The red flesh color comes from carotenoids, rather than the anthocyanins that give blood oranges their color.
