Kary Starfruit

First carambolas of the season, Kary’s from our well-established tree NW-G-1. It’s a sweet, richly flavored variety, perhaps our favorite. We thin them for better fruit quality and more flavor. Our Kary’s should show up at Jessica’s some time later this year.

Maha Chanok Mangos

Peaches

May is peach season here in Florida. Our Tropic Beauty peach tree SW-K-3 has produced its first market crop, going on sale this weekend (May 11-13) at Jessica’s.

Surinam Cherry

All three of our Surinam Cherry shrubs, SW-H-2, SW-H-3, and SW-H-4, are fruiting now. The dark variety we use lacks the resinous taste of the common red variety. With its rich sweet-sour flavor, it is a fine fruit that substitute for raspberries, which are not adapted to Florida’s climate.

Coronada Jaboticaba

The first fruit off of EG-D-8, a Coronada Jaboticaba. The flavor is distinctly cherrylike. After a complicated history, this tree seems finally to have hit its stride.

Sabara Jaboticaba

EG-B-2, a Sabara jaboticaba, is off to a good start in 2018, with a nice first crop of the year. We have approval to sell jaboticabas at Jessica’s as soon as production is sufficient. If the other big Sabaras start producing as well as EG-B-2, it won’t be long.
