Persian Lime Fruit

The lime’s summer fruiting season complements its fall and winter-fruiting cousin, the lemon. With so many uses in the kitchen, both are among the cook’s favorites.

With so many pests and diseases spawned by the monocultures on industrial agriculture, citrus fruits are tough to grow ecologically. Still, we manage a lot of lemons and a few limes for the market. Be sure to use the lime zest if you can— you won’t find many others grown with no toxic anything.

NE-D-1 Lime (Persian)

We have just one lime tree, NE-D-1, a Persian lime. Watch for its fruit in late summer.
