CG-C-2 — Mango (Neelam)

The Neelam is a south Indian dessert mango. The tree is semidwarf, perhaps even dwarf, and fruits very late in the season.

Neelam fruit is on the small side, and ripens to yellow. Picked when it first shows color, it ripens well on the shelf. Cosmetically it can look rather gnarly after the summer heat and humidity, but even nearly covered with anthracnose spots, the integrity of the interior holds up.

Neelam a useful season-extender. Discussion board mango snobs generally look down on it, but it has a nice texture and I find it a quite tasty, especially welcome after all the others are gone!
