Our Scarlet Beauty Plum was planted in late November of 2014. Scarlet Beauty is a very low-chill variety, and even during the mild 2019 winter the tree set fruit heavily. Aggressive thinning of the young fruit is necessary, so that the remaining ones will develop into large, juicy, and tasty plums.
Birds went after the small 2018 crop, but in 2019 they didn’t seem to notice the plums, and our small tree produced around 10 pounds of marketable fruit.
