This was one of the first trees we planted at SweetSong Groves, obtained from Crowley’s Nursery back in March, 2012. The variety is unknown, but there’s not much difference in the flavor of black sapote varieties anyway. For years it had only male flowers, before beginning to produce, but now it’s becoming prolific. Growers might note that it’s wider than it is tall. We keep it at 8 feet height, to be easy to work on and to improve hurricane survivability. Be sure to check our page on black sapote fruit to know how to ripen and prepare this unique treat.
