Limequat

Limequats are a hybrid of two kinds of citrus: key limes and kumquats. The result is the small size of a kumquat and the marvelous flavor of a lime. The fruits can be used for juice or zest at any point in their maturity from lime green to lemon yellow, the only difference being a little less tartness as they mature.

The fruits contain a few seeds, but are perfect when a small amount of lime juice is needed. The very small tree loves to fruit and produces throughout much of the year.

We planted our limequat tree back in 2012, and even after eight years— a long time for citrus these days— it’s a fine producer.
